Cabins
Woodcock Cabins has built garden rooms for clients across Devon, Somerset and Bristol. They’ve been constructed for a variety of uses – garden offices, kids’ playrooms, yoga studios, workshops, and storage. Here are a few examples in different settings.
Yoga Studio
This 5x7 meter traditional timber-framed building was designed with warmth, tranquillity, and spaciousness in mind, while blending into the surrounding woodland.
The client requested an inspiring, beautiful space to host yoga classes, live music, and community events.
-
The interior frame and pergola are made of locally milled Douglas fir timber, held together with over 250 hand-cleft oak pegs, providing a robust, organic structure.
The studio is clad in live-edge cedarand rebated Douglas fir, with a bifold glass facade opening onto the surrounding woodland.
Underfloor heating provides warmth for yoga classes in the colder months, and ventilation comes from the handmade, double-casement windows.
Built on ground screw foundations with a low-pitch roof finished in EPDM rubber under a green roof.
All the timber is locally sourced, and the structure is sheathed in insulating wood fibreboard. The timber frame showcases over 60 hand-scribed and cut joints using traditional British carpentry methodologies.

-

The roof and one side are box-profile anthracite metal sheets. The timber side is locally milled cedar board and baton. The windows are large UPVC double-glazed units, with a 2m-wide double-glazed sliding door, allowing plenty of light into the office space.
